Why Team Spirit is failing? Eiritel analyst reveals the team’s problems

At the recent BLAST Slam I tournament in Denmark, Team Spirit, one of the strongest Russian Dota 2 teams, left the competition before many others. This event did not go unnoticed by Daria “Eiritel” Morozova, a well-known caster and analyst. In her Telegram channel, she shared sharp observations and disappointing conclusions about the current form of the “dragons”.

Results are getting worse, and there is no hope for the future

Daria stated directly: Team Spirit’s play leaves much to be desired, and this decline became especially noticeable from the second stage of the DreamLeague S24 tournament. Yes, the team took third place, but, as Eiritel emphasizes, victories were achieved contrary to the logic of events, and not thanks to a clear strategy or preparation. And losses looked as if the team had no chance: “Where there was a loss, everything was hopeless.” The reasons for this, according to the analyst, are rooted in the incorrect distribution of forces and resources. At DreamLeague, for example, Team Spirit showed an almost perfect game in the first stage. However, having given their all from the very beginning, the team exhausted itself by the second phase of the tournament. In the playoffs, they simply did not have enough energy. Eiritel noted that Team Falcons was an example of the opposite approach, which, on the contrary, saved energy at the start, and was able to significantly improve closer to the final: “Only Falcons truly understood life, playing with their left foot until the playoffs.”

If DreamLeague allowed “experimentation” with the pace of the game, then BLAST turned out to be a tougher challenge. From the very first match, the participants had to show their best abilities and use the strategies they had developed. However, even the best preparations do not always work in tournaments: what looks good in training may be useless against serious opponents. Eiritel gave an example of Heroic’s decision to use a combination of Slark and Morph – this earned her sincere respect.

Daria expressed hope that the team will be able to reconsider its approaches to preparation, especially before the upcoming ESL One Bangkok. The return of Magomed “Collaps” Khalilov and, possibly, coach Airat “Silent” Gaziev could play a big role in this. With a new combination of players, the “dragons” have a chance to show something fresh and strong. However, will this be enough? At the moment, Team Spirit is clearly going through a difficult period. Perhaps the key to success lies not only in physical preparation, but also in rethinking the strategy: from the distribution of forces to the approach to different tournament formats. For now, we can only watch how things develop. But one thing is clear: if the team does not draw conclusions, its position on the world Dota 2 stage may become even more precarious.
