Why Team Spirit's manager doesn't call them a team anymore

After a series of unsuccessful performances by Team Spirit, the team’s manager Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov spoke openly about the state of affairs in the organization. In his interview for Team Spirit’s YouTube vlog, he shared his thoughts on how it is no longer possible to call Team Spirit a full-fledged team.

“A team is not just five players”

Dmitry emphasized that a team is not just a group of players performing under one tag. A real team is an ecosystem where each member of the team feels like part of a single mechanism. According to him, the current Team Spirit roster does not fit this definition: “It just happened, it’s completely normal.” At the moment, the players are focused more on personal goals than on the overall synergy. Korb3n believes that this is natural, because every professional dreams of victories and adding trophies to their track record. These achievements are important both for the career and for the reputation of the players, especially if they are looking for a place in new teams in the future.

Team Spirit has a major challenge ahead – ESL One Bangkok, and Korb3n clearly outlined the minimum bar for the team. A place below the top 4 will be a failure for him. However, he understands that the team’s mood now is more like a “demobilization chord.” This is the moment when emotions are not as bright as with new rosters, and enthusiasm and cohesion gradually fade. However, the current roster still has a chance to prove itself. The Team Spirit roster has undergone serious changes since the last The International. Only captain Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov and midlaner Denis “Larl” Sigitov remain from the old team. In its updated form, the team has already achieved some success, twice entering the top 4 at major tournaments, but at the recent BLAST Slam I, the “dragons” could not even get out of the group. The situation may change with the return of coach Airat “Silent” Gaziev and offlaner Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov in January. Perhaps with their arrival, Team Spirit will regain stability and cohesion.

Team Spirit is going through a difficult period now. The manager honestly admits that it is no longer possible to call them a full-fledged team. However, the players have motivation – success in tournaments, which can help not only the team, but also each of them in their individual careers. It remains only to wait whether the “dragons” will be able to rise to the top again or whether this will be the final chapter for the current roster.
